Meet Dr. Steven D. Nguyen
Dr. Nguyen grew up in Atlanta and received his Bachelors of Science from Emory University, double majoring in Biology and Economics. He then went on to earn his D.M.D. degree at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. Upon graduation from dental school, Dr. Nguyen completed a General Practice Residency program at Jacobi Medical Center in Bronx, New York. After his GPR, he was accepted into the 6 year M.D. integrated Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at The Mount Sinai Downtown / Jacobi Medical Center in New York City and received his M.D. degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed a 1 year General Surgery Internship at The Mount Sinai Beth Israel. In his final year of training Dr. Nguyen served as Chief Resident of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Service, and was responsible for providing care and supervising the resident staff at The Mount Sinai Downtown, The Mount Sinai West, Jacobi Medical Center, and the North Central Bronx Hospital.
Dr. Nguyen practices the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery procedures including repair of oral-facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, general anesthesia and IV sedation, wisdom teeth removal, bone grafting and dental implants, management of oral pathology, treatment of Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disease, minimally invasive salivary gland procedures, cosmetic procedures, as well as traditional dentoalveolar surgery. He maintains certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS and ATLS. He serves the community of Springfield by taking trauma call regularly at Baystate Medical Center, where he has admitting privileges for patients requiring hospitalization or operating room procedures.
In his free time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys traveling, exploring the outdoors, hiking and snowboarding.
