Meet Dr. Michael W. Courtney
Dr. Courtney is a Massachusetts native. He completed his undergraduate education at Boston University where he remained for his dental school training. He attended Boston University’s Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he received his DMD. Dr. Courtney went on to complete an integrated 6 year Oral and Maxillofacial surgery program, receiving his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College and completing his training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. During residency Dr. Courtney served as chief resident. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and in the process of becoming an active member of the Massachusetts Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the America Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon
Dr. Courtney has multiple publications in the literature with a focus on the success of dental implants on medically compromised patients as well as a case study on salivary gland pathology. He currently lectures on obstructive sleep apnea to update current dental and medical professionals on management and treatment options.
Dr. Courtney practices full scope oral and maxillofacial surgery, including corrective orthognathic jaw surgery, treatment of facial tumors and cysts, facial trauma, TMJ, obstructive sleep apnea, dental implants, bone grafting, as well as dental extractions and orthodontic exposure & bonding procedures. His extensive training allows him to provide complete patient comfort through the utilization of general anesthesia and state of the art patient monitoring which includes pediatric patients.
In his free time, Dr. Courtney enjoys playing golf, ice hockey and spending time with friends and family.
